When a thousand were butchered and there was no end to the butchery, a blanket of silence spread“ – this quote made by Bertolt Brecht still doesn’t loose its contemporary character considering the current development in Syria and other parts oft the MENA region and the forced migration worldwide. The documentary In The Dark Times focuses on the current state of terror and draws a bow to the refugees’ life in their hosting countries, asking questions about their past and future and additionally giving an insight into projects of cultural work that aim to support the migrants. Linked to this the movie purposes to give refugees a voice to express their experiences and thoughts. Therefore it’s a documentary not just about but with and by refugees mostly from Syria.
