Left Over Work in Istanbul / Dolapdere − Beyoğlu
In this seven-minute documentary, we get to see how lively a flea market in Dolapdere/ Beyoğlu can be. We get the sense of a typical Turkish flea market where people bargain, break into conversations, have discussions on everything from the things we find in this market to musing about life itself. The camera captures all the little and big items you can buy here; old black-and-white photographs, gramophones, clothes, technical equipments, and much more.
An old man extols the specialty of a second-hand, double-sided coat he is selling. Another man quotes 30 Turkish Liras for the black-and-white photos he has obtained from an old house. A booklet named Closing the Ranks with a Che Guevara picture and a demonstration with the banner Venceremos on it, is for sale for 1 Turkish Lira.
